HUMPDAY SONG: Bob Marley and the Wailers – And I Love Her

I thought this one would be a good one to post for a “Humpday Song“post up! This song was originally recorded by The Beatles in 1964 and  Bob Marley and the Wailers gave it a soulful cover in 1965 for their  “The Wailing Wailers at Studio One” album, remastered in 2005, and served up here in all it’s glory… It’s more on the doo-wop-ska tip, but kills it as he Bob pours his heart out with his younger, sweet soul vocal choppys. Hope ya dig it as much as I do…

HUMPDAY SONG: Tortoise – Crest

Being huge fans of Tortoise for quite some time now, I figured I’d give ya one of my favorite songs from them. If you’ve never heard of Tortoise, you need to go check them out now… That is if you like experimental psychedelic jazzy ambient rock… I know, the genre thing again… Let’s just say “Crest”, off their “It’s All Around You” album (highly recommended), is a powerful composition of dark sitars and beautiful shiny xylophones.

VIA WIKI: Tortoise’s almost entirely instrumental music defies easy categorization, and the group gained significant attention from their early career. The members have roots in Chicago’s fertile music scene, playing in various indie rock and punk  groups. Tortoise was among the first American indie rock bands to incorporate styles closer to Krautrock, dub, minimalism, electronica, and various jazz  styles, rather than the standard rock and roll and punk that had dominated indie rock for years.

Some have cited Tortoise as being one of the prime forces behind the development and popularity of the post-rock movement. Others, however, have characterised Tortoise’s music as being heavily indebted to progressive rock.

One of my personal favs from the ’80’s, Debbie Deb with “Lookout Weekend”… I think old school freestyle jams like this have to be, growing up in South Florida and all… This jam still gets me through the week and off to the weekend.

Here one of my favorite tunes by one of my all-time favorite reggae artists, Beres Hammond. This tune “Love Mood” is a sweet little piece of lovers rock fo’ yo’ ass to put you and your woman in the Love Mood. Off his 2007 LP, “Love Has No Boundaries“, I couldn’t recommend adding it to your collection more! A must have. Enjoy!

HUMPDAY SONG: Air – African Velvet

I figured this was a great tune to post for a Humpday Song… I absolutely love this tune, every time I hear it I just get lost in it. Not to discount any other song on the “Love 2” album, especially songs like “Tropical Disease“, “Sing Sang Sung” and “You Can Tell It To Everybody” these songs are infectious. Check “African Velvet” below, go buy the long player and admit to your friends that you actually dig French pop music.
