I’m a slacker… Hopefully I’ll make up a but with this beautiful gem by the mighty Young Ax… This tune is probably my favorite all time Drum & Bass tune… It’s so melodic yet so hard, it fits anywhere!… Truly a song that invokes alot of feeling for me… Hope it does the same for you! HUMPDAY SONG: Bob Marley and the Wailers – And I Love Her

I thought this one would be a good one to post for a “Humpday Song“post up! This song was originally recorded by The Beatles in 1964 and  Bob Marley and the Wailers gave it a soulful cover in 1965 for their  “The Wailing Wailers at Studio One” album, remastered in 2005, and served up here in all it’s glory… It’s more on the doo-wop-ska tip, but kills it as he Bob pours his heart out with his younger, sweet soul vocal choppys. Hope ya dig it as much as I do…

One of my personal favs from the ’80’s, Debbie Deb with “Lookout Weekend”… I think old school freestyle jams like this have to be, growing up in South Florida and all… This jam still gets me through the week and off to the weekend.

I know it’s been a while since the last Humpday Song so I know I have make this one good, wait… They’re all good. This is a dude I found out about not too long ago. Man is a genius in the studio and behind the decks (or virtual decks). Be sure to check out his Heroes Mix for In New DJs We Trust w/ Alex Metric on BBC. Maybe I’ll make a post of it.

This is def one song that puts a smile on my face, so I guess it’s a true Humpday tune… Originally recorded at Studio One Recording Studios, Kingston, Jamaica in 1963 this version was digitally restored at Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California and digitally remastered at Northeastern Digital Recording, Inc in 1991… Written after the 1962, The Contours hit “Do You Love Me”. Please Enjoy…

HUMPDAY SONG: Shep & The Limelites—Daddy's Home

This may be a shock to see on here, but yes… I like ’50’s-’60’s Motown/Sweet Soul/Doo-Wop. For many reasons, mainly because it is the backbone of a plethora of genres we listen to today… but one in particular is Reggae music… but we wont go into that right now… This post is for my wife and my son, really wanted to post something for him and theis title came to mind… The lyrics fit more toward the wifey tho. I used to have this recording on a 4 pack vinyl (had to sell it in hard times!)… It was like a reunion show in the ’70’s of a bunch of the hottest doo-wop and soul groups, and Shep & The Limelites do like an 11 minute long version of this tune, I tried to find that for you but I couldn’t even manage to find the vinyl again. But here’s a 320k of the original 1961 hit.

Heard this tune on Supersonic Sound‘s “Dancehall Nice Again” mix and fell in love with this tune…. Guinney Pepper‘s (also known as Ginny or Ginnie) Chalice immediately puts a smile on your face… It’s a late humpday post, but definitely how I feel today. Be sure to check out his album too “Herbs, music and Food”…  One thing I highly agree with Guinney was his line from one of his songs : “What can put you in a good mood … Herbs, music and Food”. Niiiiice.
