FREE Scattermusic EP – Edu K: Ja, Mann!
December 23, 2009, 9:28 pm

Scattermusic teams up with the one, the only, the legend, Edu K. It’s a fun-fuelled trip through varied styles of dope club music and is one that holds close to our heart. Edu was of course our guest DJ at the first official Scatterblog Presents… party back in feb this year, which saw us put together our first release package, and was essentially the start of great things to come.
We feel like we’ve been blood-brothers with Edu ever since, so we’re obviously super excited to put out this release by him. We’ve managed to get together a whopping 7 remixes, making the EP feel more like an album.

Edu K has been a master of dance music for years. From his forward thinking Baile Funk to his Rave Zombie Electro and now his worldy, percussion inspired tech house, Edu K has always managed to shock and inspire his audience with his take on music.

His first release with Scattermusic is a 2 track EP, packed to the brim with remixes. The EP includes the tracks “Ja, Mann!”; a cheeky, worldly minimal track filled with energy and plenty of drum rolls and “Jumpin n Pumpin”; a crazy, horn-fuelled number that doesn’t know when to quit.

Remixes of “Ja. Mann!” come courtesy of Mom & Dad with a totally club, stomper that’s all-to-relevant and Slap & Dash with a relentless, Hip Hop influenced dance track, filled with big synths and marching drums. Remixes of “Jumpin n Pumpin” see Dubbel Dutch take us to a dirty rave, flipping the tune over and over; Lewis CanCut get on a new age, hyped up Hip Hop/Dancehall/Baile Funk vibe, with 2 versions, slotting original vocals over the top from Dizzy Dee and Mars E Pan; WILDLIFE! who has given the track an almost Caribbean UK Funky vibe and Femme En Fourrure who have flipped the tune into a deep and dark minimal number to lose yourself to.

Free TC Electronics M80 Reverb VST Plugin

VIA Create Digital Music:

Sometimes, all you need is one really good reverb with editable parameters. TC Electronic has done some really lovely reverb work, and they’re currently giving away one of their plug-ins, for FREE!

Yes, the plug-in is free through Wednesday, and then costs US$79 after that.

What you get from the M30:

* VST, AU compatibility on Windows and Mac
* Hall algorithm (no Room or Plate, though – for that,
you need the M40 which ships with TC’s audio interfaces)
* Editable parameters for pre-delay, decay, “hi color,” and the requisite wet/dry mix

It’s nothing revolutionary, but I’m always game for a nice Hall algorithm. Interestingly, TC has worked out a way to port their native DSP code from hardware to computer-native code using something they call AlgoFlex.

Here’s a free, unreleased, old skool Nirvana tune courtesy of RCRD LBL. Sub Pop is re-releasing Bleach in expanded and remastered form for its twentieth anniversary, and by “expanded” we mean it also includes a full, unreleased recording of the band’s performance at the Pine Street Theatre in Portland on February 9th, 1990. Jack Endino, producer of Bleach and a plethora of other insanely great Seattle bands, spruced up the live audio so everything sounds thick and heavy and totally facemelting. That version of “Scoff” is below, you can pre-order the re-release over at the Sub Pop website.
